McDonald’s may not be the first international fastfood franchise to have come to Cebu, but it is certainly one of the most popular.
Branches of this famous franchise are almost always packed. And they’ve sort of become landmarks here in the city because they’re among the most recognizable places around. I mean, who wouldn’t recognize those golden yellow arches anywhere? And of course, their food is undeniably scrumptiously addictive. Diets and all thoughts of eating healthy jump out the window with much happy fanfare(complete with a marching band and colorful confetti) when you’re offered a helping of large fries and those sinfully awesome floats! Raise those flabby arms, if you agree! :P

Case in point, here are a few of my personal Mc-faves.
French Fries
Yummy when freshly served. But if you wait an hour before you eat them, you’ll be eating something akin to limp cardboard sticks. But I guess it would serve you right for letting good fries sit there all bored and uneaten… for an hour, no less. :P

Fish Fillet Burger
Quite a delicious treat for self-proclaimed pescetarians(or pescatarians) out there. And quite filling, too. I especially love the tartar sauce they use on it, instead of the regular mayo and ketchup. But it’s not a very good choice if you’re planning to smooch someone after lunch. You just might drive that potential mate straight to the arms of the nearest dork, if you do.
Sundaes
A delectably milky frozen concoction I would gladly stuff my face with 24/7. One of the most sinfully delicious frozen treats around, in my opinion. It just melts awfully fast. But then I still find it yummy even though it turns to mush, so I don’t really mind. Some people do though because it reminds them of baby vomit or something. :P

Big Mac
Ridiculously humongous burger with double the patty. It’s every glutton’s dream food. Makes you wanna dance the Macarena when you look at how wonderfully ginormous it is. But where to start that first bite without embarrassing yourself in front of friends and strangers alike, therein lies the rub. And how to hide the bulk of your tummy after you’ve wolfed down the lot is the other dilemma. Haha.
Oreo McFlurry
Mouthwatering ice cream with bits of yummy Oreo cookies all over it. A cup of this can make you wanna do cartwheels after doing the “hokey pokey” in front of the entire McDonald’s crowd. And I bet the crowd would completely understand why. Yes, it is THAT good! But just like the sundae, it melts awfully fast. Then you’d get some gooey slush that resembles milky baby spit sprinkled with chewed chocolate cookies. Now this one I don’t like much when it’s become mush. No idea why, I just do.
Crispy Chicken Fillet
Appetizingly filling and gloriously cheap for the average joe, Crispy Chicken Fillet is perfect for those days when you’re on your last peso–right before you get that much-awaited paycheck. The meal already has rice and drinks with it, so you’re set for just Php50. Awesome, right? But if you’re one of those people with amazingly huge appetites, one serving of this might not be enough. Personally, this can be quite addictive and if you have food allergies, it might not be good advice to temp fate.

Apple Pie
Sugared apples with just the right amount of cinnamon sprinkled on it is just… PURE HEAVEN! This is especially true if you only have 25 pesos to spare for lunch and you want something incredibly yummy to perk you up. However, be sure to have wads of table napkins with you before you take a bite of this delightful dessert. Or you might just find yourself with sticky dripping apple pie mush splattered all over your cheeks and nothing to wipe them off with but your shirt sleeves.

Floats
These beverages are what I’d personally call “absolutely criminal”. They’re so yummily addictive they should be deemed illegal. Seriously! I could barely let the cup go even after I’ve sipped the last drop. And they now offer quite a variety of flavors. I’ve had Green Apple, Strawberry, Blueberry, and of course their original Coke Float. Sadly, most of the time, you barely get enough to tide you over until the next McDo visit because McDonald’s peeps fill half the cup with ice cubes that you only get about half a cup of soda. I bet they do that so you’d buy another one. Whatcha think?
I don’t know about you, but I’m so glad there are tons of McDonald’s branches dotting our lovely city like spots on a polka dot bikini. Not only do they serve yummy–albeit sinfully fatty– and reasonably priced food, most of their peeps are also quite friendly. “Love ko ‘to!” Definitely! ^_^
