Searching for scrumptious food is sort of a hobby with me. Some friends say I’m like a hound dog when it comes to yummy food, more so if they’re sweets. When I visit restaurants, among the first I notice is the decor… then the crew… then the food. But the thing that resonates in my head–and tummy– is their dessert menu. Well, I must have mentioned this before–I love dessert! Ordering and eating dessert is among the highlights of most of my epicurean escapades. And since I have visited many restaurants in this beautiful city, I have quite a list of yummy sweet things now… and I would like to share a few of them to you guys. Dessert = Happiness, after all… and everybody deserves happiness at one time or another. :D

So, here they are. Enjoy! And take care not to drool too much. :P

Brownie ala Mode

I can’t actually remember where I first had this wonderful dessert. Seriously, I can’t recall a thing. I must be going senile or something. Still, I can never forget how amazing the yummy chocolate brownie and creamy vanilla  ice cream feel on my tongue. Chewy edible heaven!

Where you can buy one: Dong Juan, Dessert Factory

Banana Chocolate Muffin

Chocolate and bananas are among my fave eatables. And I bet a lot of people feel the same. So putting them together just kinda make sense, don’t you think? Oh yes, they make delicious sense… a lot! And it’s especially yummy with a cup of freshly brewed coffee. *sigh*

Where you can buy one: Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf

Crème brûlée

This one isn’t just yummy, but also quite interesting to make. I’d like to personally make this one in the future.  No kidding! Melting sugar crystals on top of some creamy flan with a torch? I mean, who wouldn’t wanna try that?

Where you can buy one: La Maison, Dong Juan

Froyo

Froyo is short for frozen yogurt, and health experts have been lauding this delicious dairy product as the healthy alternative for ice cream. Maybe it is. Maybe it isn’t. But I don’t really care. It’s just plain scrumptious and I can’t seem to get enough of it. :P And I personally know someone who’d gladly have this for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Sadly, a cup of this is mighty expensive for the ordinary office worker. So several cups might make you go bankrupt days before the next payday. :(

Where you can buy one: You can find this all over Cebu City, but the best places are Red Mango, White Hat, Coffee Cat, and Teriyaki Boy.

Choco Roll

Friends say I’m addicted to chocolate… and I think this is one of the reasons why. :P I could eat a whole roll, if nobody stops me. That’s how obsessive I could get about this sweet stuff. Luckily, I always have friends to share this with… or I’d be really huge by now!

Where you can buy one: Goldilocks, Red Ribbon

Mixed Fruits

Fresh fruits are not only yummy, but also really good for you. They’re a good source of vitamins and fiber. Now, I’m not saying that you should, or should not, put some sinfully deliciously thick cream on top. I would just like to lay out the facts. Fact 1: Sweet thick cream makes the fresh fruits doubly delicious. Fact 2: Sweet thick cream is loaded with sugar, and may not be so good for you.

Still, I guess it’s okay to have some as long as you remember that “Moderation is key.” ^_^

Where you can buy one: Mandarin Tea Garden(with cream), Kenny Rogers Roasters(with syrup), Thirsty

Choco Monster

This chocolate cake is no ordinary chocolate cake. It’s like the mother of all chocolate cakes! A spoonful of this would make you crave for tons of baby choco cakes exactly like this one 24/7. Seriously, this is so yummy, it’s no wonder that it is quite addictive.

Where you can buy one: Orange Brutus

Crepes

Crepes are not only scrumptious, they’re also quite versatile. You can pair them with almost anything sweet… ice cream, peanut butter, jelly, caramel, honey, choco syrup, or fruits. Even melted ice cream tastes great with crepes.

Where you can buy one: Vanille Patisserie, Crazy Crepes, CrePes and Cream

Chocolate Mousse

Eating this one was how I internalized the adage “Too much of a good thing… gives you painful sore throat.”  :P But boy, it’s still very tempting even after two helpings. Believe me, I know!

Where you can buy one: Red Ribbon, Kenny Rogers Roasters, Goldilocks

Banana Split

Bananas and three flavors of ice cream… what more could you ask for in a dessert? In some restaurants, they also put cherries, peaches, or peanuts. Really! Anything goes with this sweet stuff. And yes, this one is among the classics in the dessert world. Also, it is best eaten with a friend… and tons of chocolate syrup.

Where you can buy one: Siam, Ice Castle, Kenny Rogers Roasters

If you’ve survived this far, you either have a phantom toothache or a mighty craving for something sweet by now. Sorry about that. :P And take care not to stand too near the canister of sugar. You might start shoving spoonfuls of them in your mouth. Kidding! So yeah, it’s okay to have cravings. It’s what you do with them that counts… especially on your flabs. :D

Well, bon appetit, tout le monde!
